WORKSHOPS

Wanting to reach out past her personal domestic realm, Stella runs a variety of workshops in community contexts. Her workshops are warm, welcoming, and rooted in the values of curiosity, sustainability, and lifelong learning. Through gentle guidance and a spirit of exploration, Stella invites participants to slow down, make thoughtfully, and discover the powerful change that can emerge from everyday creative practice.

Her sustainable lifestyle classes are tailored to her teaching context and range from the practical to more ideas-based learning.

Stella’s textile workshops focus on repurposing second hand fabrics and fibres and invite people to rediscover the joy that making with our hands can bring. They also give people the skills to make rather than mindlessly buy. Stella is passionate about fostering supportive, community-minded workshops that honour the long history of sewing as a social practice.

In all her workshops, Stella crafts not only objects, but also connection, creating relational spaces that reverberate past the walls of the classroom.

Scrap Happy - Zero Waste Textile Collage

Bring along your fabric and fibre scraps (no scrap is too small!) to use as material inspiration for a textile collage workshop that embraces zero waste principles. Organically design a composition that utilises textile waste to create something beautiful out of what might otherwise be thrown away. Join Stella and learn basic embroidery stitches and set up your design so you can start stitching in class but also be able to finish the piece at home. Class held at Yonder Craft Room.

Doodling with Thread

If embroidery is drawing with thread, then this workshop is all about doodling designs and having fun with colour and line. Utilise the embroidery hoop you will be using in the workshop to show off your finished work for super easy display. Stella will help you explore with different fibres and threads to achieve a variety of textures and lines. Learn a few basic embroidery stitches and then be supported to explore your creativity to make a textile artwork that is uniquely your own. Class held at Yonder Craft Room.
